This is the website for Mr. Page’s Video Game Design classes at the Killeen ISD Career Center in Killeen, Texas.

Mr. Page has been teaching Video Game Design since 2008.  We currently use the Unity 3D game engine.

Three years of Video Game Design are offered to our students:  Video Game Design I, Video Game Design II, and Video Game Design III.

Video Game Design I:

This course is designed for students in the 10th through 12th grade to introduce them to the basic concepts of Video Game Design.  These topics include:

  • Navigating the Unity 3D game engine
  • Scripting in the C# programming language
  • Creating 2D games.
  • The game design cycle – How to come up with an idea for a game and develop it.
  • History and development of Video Games and their effect on our world.
  • Careers and Career Paths in the video game design industry.

Video Game Design II:

This course is designed for student who have successfully completed Video Game Design I.  Students will study 3D video game topics including:

  • 3D Modeling
  • Scripting in the C# programming language
  • Audio for video games
  • Working with a creative team
  • File management
  • Video game animation
  • Lighting, Textures, and Materials
  • Producing and Marketing

Video Game Design III:

Video Game Design III builds on the skills acquired in Video Game Design I and II.  Students will review the skills learned and then investigate advanced topics in game design such as, creating games for mobile devices, peripherals, Augmented Reality, and more.  They will work individually and in teams to design and create fully developed and featured video games.  Students will prepare for and take the Unity Certified Associate Certification test.
